You’ve probably noticed that your children collect stuffed animals like you collect candles and throw pillows. They’re all over the house! Yet, they only seem to use one. And by “use,” we mean drag around and through everywhere they go. This means those furry friends need to be washed fairly often to remove the mud, jelly, and endless number of other things from their ears, paws, and fur. After all, you don’t want those animals to become breeding grounds for bacteria and allergens that could make your children sick. So team up with Roux Maison to get those buddies clean.
If you’re like most of us, you really do intend to wash your children’s stuffed animals much more often than you do, but you’re never quite sure how to go about it. You don’t want to ruin their softness and have your children banish yet another animal to the bookshelf of misfit toys just to gather dust and prompt you to buy another cuddly creature. Luckily, Roux Maison Delicate Detergent is gentle enough to use on stuffed animals without damaging the stuffing or outer fur.
Since most stuffed animals have some sort of plastic or beading or buttons, it’s usually best to handwash them to avoid damaging any of these pieces. Fill your sink with warm water and add one capful of Roux Maison Delicate Detergent. Although all of our scents are created with essential oils and are safe on skin, we recommend using our Fragrance-Free option on children’s items just in case they are sensitive to fragrance. Since children usually have stuffed animals so close to their faces–especially when sleeping–this hypoallergenic detergent is a great choice.
Submerge the stuffed animal in the water and swish gently for about five minutes. Rinse thoroughly and hang to dry. The easiest way to do this is to clip clothespins to the animal’s ears and attach to a clothesline or drying rack. A child’s clip hanger also works well.
Make this a fun activity for your kids by playing like it’s bathtime for their stuffed animals. This will teach them the importance of keeping their toys clean as well as still getting to play with their favorite toys.
